限制议付信用证属于限制性信用证（Restricted L/C）中的一种。在条款表述中经常使用“限制议付”（Restricted Negotiation）字样。
一般来说，限制议付银行是由开证银行在异地的，即通常在出口商所在地的分理行或者代理业务银行，或往来银行，或通知银行来承担议付。
限制议付信用证通常载有如下限制议付文句。比如：
Negotiation under this Credit is restricted to Advising Bank.
本信用证限于通知行议付。
Negotiation is restricted to Bank of China,Dalian Branch.
议付仅限于中国银行大连分行
在信用证条款中也可以使用文字表述“限制”含义。比如：
We hereby agree with you that all draft(s) drawn in conformity with the terms of this restricted negotiation credit will be dully honored on presentation.
我行兹在此向贵方承诺，凡依本限制议付信用证条款所开具的汇票，将在提示时予以兑付。
Draft(s) drawn under this credit are negotiable through Bank of China, Dalian Branch.
依本信用证签发的汇票仅限由中行大连分行。

UCP第23条的运输单据必须注明所出具的正本的份数。注明“第一正本”、“第二正本”“第三正本”、“正本”、“第二份”、“第三份”等类似表述的运输单据都是正本。
提单不一定非要注明“正本”字样才能被接受为正本。
通常所说的全套Full set 提单，是指3正本提单。
如果信用证提交“海运（marine）”或”海洋（ocean）”运输单据。只要运输单据是港至港运输单据，单据不一定要使用“海运”或“海洋”等措辞。
“已装运表面状况良好”、“已载于船”、“清洁已装船”或其他包含“已装运”（”shipped”）或“已装在船上”（“on board”）之类用语的措辞与“已装运于船”（“shipped on board”）具有同样效力。
